4th week
This weeks was short because I only had three days to come in. Most of the week was spent in an office called patients to finish the surveys and then writing a report about the results of the survey. Not much happened this week. It was just a couple days to finish up some things.
16th day
On June 15th I finished up the report on the surveys. I added some of the not so great things that the patients said on the surveys and then said how we may improve these flaws.
15th day
On June 14th I began to write a report that would summarize the results of the surveys. It was basically saying overall what patients said on the surveys.
14th day
On June 13th I was wrapping up the surveys and finishing some last minute tasks. Today was mostly a catch up day.

End of third week
This week was mostly focused on Planetree. Its maqin point is that they want to treat patients like people and treat the person and the medical problem instead of just the medical problem. What this also means is that it can work both ways, not only do the patients get treated better but then so do the employees. In ems the hours are not always comfortable. Many people have for example an eight hour shift but then they have to work three or four extra hours. This does not just happen every once in a while but it is very common to happen in ems. So hopefully taking on this Planetree concept will help to change some things for the better.
13th day
On June 10th I worked on surveys that were based off of the Planetree model. I continued to gather information about how former patients feel that the company is doing.

12th day
On June 9th I was also working on the surveys. I had to call people and get their input on the company and the service that they have been getting from the company. Most of the day was spent making calls.
11th day
On June 8th I worked with my supervisors assistant on the planetree project. We went over some of the surveys and then called some former patients. Most of the day was spent putting things together and seeing how everything is going.

10th day
On June 7th it was my last day on the ambulance. Not much happened today since the crew had to cover the Trumball area for a while and we were just waiting for a call. However one of the EMTs that I was with today took out the stair chair and showed me all the little things that I should know about how to use it. She also showed my how to use a hair traction splint for someone with a broken femor and showed me some useful ways of using cravots.

On June 6th i was again on the ambulance. Today we had a call that require a lot of time because it was a long distance call. I also was able to work with some of the equipment and get a better feel on how everything works.

End of second week
This week was good because I got the chance to really see the difference between the two services that this company provides. I got to work with the people in the handivan in the beginning of the week and then I got to work on the ambulance at the end of the week. It brought my attention to the different ways that things are done in the field. I did get to do some hands on work today which make me excited since I've been waiting to do that for a while. Overall it was a good week and I am looking forward to my days interning there. =]
8th day
Today, June 3rd was a good day. Nothing out of the ordinary happened but it was just a fun day. I was with two different EMT's today then I was with the other day and they were very nice and were good with explaining things to me. They were also very kind to just give me some advice on how things normally work and just little tricks and things that are good to know.

seventh day
On June 2nd it was my first day on the ambulance. The first couple calls were good and done quickly. On one of the calls we got stuck in the hospital for almost two hours waiting for a patient to get processed and taken care of. We couldn't leave until the hospital staff was able to take him, so we waited until then.

sixth day
On June 1st it was my last day of handivan. Normally we have about 5 to 8 patients that we transport but today we only had three. This is because the first two patients were not present at their homes when we arrived on scene to get them. Then the next three calls were all long distance calls because the company is all over the state so many times someone would live in New Caanon but they need to be transported to Milford. It is a long drive there and then back so that is why there was only time for three patients today.
end of first week
My first week at internship was nice. I got to meet a good amount of kind people and got to do something that I haven't done yet. The survey that I made for the ride-alongs was based around a company called Planetree. They are a company that has a vision of making healthcare better by having patient being treated by actual humans and being cared for with emotional support instead of being treated as just another case that they need to solve. I was very interested in this when I was researching because many people complain about how they are mistreated in healthcare yet no on really goes out to make a huge change about that until now. Planetree started out by a girl named Angelica Thieriot that was very sick and the medical crew that was taking care of her didn't really pay attention to her as a person. They just treated her health problem but did not care about her, they just walk in and out without paying attention to how she feels through this process. That is what Planetree whats to prevent they want to treat human beings like human beings. I think that this is a good idea and now there are facilities in the country and even in this state that are Plantree medical facilities.
fifth day
On May 31st was my third day on the handivan. Normally we transport elderly disabled patients but today was slightly different because we got a patient that was a younger patient that was still in elementary school. It was a nice change.
fourth day
On May 27th was my second day of handivan and we did mostly the same things but with different people. We didn't have as many patients today as we did the other day.
third day
On May 26th I started out by doing ride-alongs on the handivan. I would first sit back and see how things are done but quickly picked up on it and jumped in to help out. Me and the driver that I was riding with would split up the job one of us would strap in the patient and the other would open the van and get the lift out. It was a good first day on the handivan.
second day
Today May 24th, at my internship I was editing my survey so that it was more to the point and clean. After I finished editing and had my supervisor give me the clear on it me and another employee began to call some former patients of the company and test out the survey. Not many people wanted to take the survey but we did have a couple that did and the survey worked well.
First day
Today May 23st, at my internship my supervisor got me started on a making a survey that was to be double sided that I would use on my ride-alongs. The survey was a series of questions that were based around patient satisfaction and care. The company wants to know what they are doing well and what could use some work.
